Thailand lottery is administered by the government official body, the Government Lottery Office or GLO. This Thai’s GLO draws the lottery on the 1st and 16th every month.
Please note that another form of gambling is prohibited in Thailand except the lottery called Salak Kin Baeng and horse racing.

- The payout – Thailand Lottery payout is about 60%. This is actually quite small if we compared this to the worldwide average of 70%-80%.
- How many players? – More than 20 million Thais play this lottery from a total of 67 million citizens. Locals spent 76 billion baht for the lottery, this is based on the Family Network Foundation report in 2014.
- About the GLO – Thai’s GLO is the only entity that licensed to prints and sells the tickets directly to the wholesalers. The GLO pocketed about 28% of the profits made b the lottery for the state use.
- The history – Thai lottery was first issued in the 1910s by the King Rama V. The price of the ticket continues to rise. In 2015, the military government mandated that the price will not exceed 80 baht.
- Who plays? – 52% of Thais women play the lottery more than a man about 48%. Most of them aged between 31 to 40 years old. Based on statistics, most of the players are in the low-income level with about 61% of it.
- How to buy? – Players can also buy the ticket directly from the Krung Thai Bank. Vendors might also able to purchase about 5 to 50 tickets. In 2014 statistics, GLO is the biggest recipient of the ticket printed with a quota of 9,213,000 tickets.
- How to draw? – GLO headquarters hold the drawings. The first prize for players who get 6 correct numbers is 2 million baht or 3 million baht per ticket. The National Broadcasting Services of Thailand broadcast the result starting 3:00 pm. They also post the results on the GLO website.
